Why Let Your Bed Occupy Your Room All Day?

Dwals folds your bed into 12 inches of wall — and hands back the floor you already paid for. Designed in Mumbai, built in our own Pune factory, installed by our own team.

Day: the Dwalsbed closed flush to the wall, a teal three-seater sofa in front, balcony and city view behind. Night: the same Dwalsbed folded down over the sofa, queen mattress ready.

Before / after · real Mumbai rooms

Same room. Drag to see what changed.

Left of the handle is the room as it was. Right of it is the same room with a Dwalsbed on the wall.

Before: a narrow Mumbai bedroom filled wall to wall by a grey double bed, side table and wardrobe. After: the same room with a sage-green Dwalsbed wall unit, brass trim, a study desk and the floor clear.
BeforeAfter

A 10-foot bedroom. The double bed and side table went; a sage wall unit with a desk came in.

Before: a children's room with a metal bunk bed, study table and steel cupboard leaving a narrow walkway. After: the same room with a periwinkle horizontal Dwalsbed closed, an oak desk under the window and an open floor.
BeforeAfter

A children’s room with a bunk bed and a walkway. A horizontal Dwalsbed under the loft, and the floor came back.

The arithmetic of a Mumbai flat

In Mumbai, a bed is the most expensive furniture you own.

  1. One ~50sq ft

A queen bed holds about 50 sq ft hostage, 24 hours a day.

  2. Two 8of 24 hours

You use it for 8 of those hours.

  3. Three ₹per sq ft

At Mumbai rates, that idle floor is worth more than the bed.

Day: a wine-red two-seater sofa in front of the closed white Dwalsbed door, plant and rug — the room in daytime use.
16 h Living room
Night: the same Dwalsbed open over the sofa, mattress ready, city lights in the window.
8 h Bedroom

Dwals gives you those hours back.

    Inside Dwals

We make it. We install it. We answer the phone.

Most wall beds sold in Mumbai are imported kits fitted by a subcontractor. Ours are drawn, cut, tested and installed by the same company, in the same city. That is the whole difference when something needs attention in year three.

    FAQ

    Everything before you message us.

A german technology mechanism — gas spring struts rated for 300 kg and cycle-tested to 40,000 open-close cycles — at one open and one close a night, that is more than a century of use. The struts are the same kind of sealed, self-damping units used in car tailgates; they do not rely on springs that stretch or cables that fray.

The cabinet is anchored into the wall at several points along its height, and the bed cannot fall open on its own: closed, the struts hold it against the cabinet, and it only comes down when you pull the handle and guide it. A child cannot swing it open by accident, and it cannot slam.

Yes. A Dwalsbed is built around a standard mattress — single 3×6, double 4×6, queen 5×6 or king 6×6. Spring, foam or coir all work. Tell us its thickness and weight at the measurement visit and we set the strut force to match, so the bed is as light to lift with your mattress as it was on our test floor.

The mattress stays on the frame, strapped in, and your bedding stays on the mattress. You close the bed made, and open it made.

For a vertical bed, allow the mattress width plus 4 inches: a queen needs about 5 ft 4 in of clear wall, and the cabinet stands about 6 ft 9 in tall. The room needs enough depth for the bed to come down — the mattress length plus about a foot to walk past the foot.

Ceiling height rarely stops a vertical bed in Mumbai flats, but if yours is under 7 ft 2 in, or a window or a beam sits in the way, we build it horizontal instead: the bed folds sideways from a lower, wider cabinet. Our fit advisor on this page checks all three numbers for you.

The cabinet is fixed to the wall with anchors sized for your wall — brick, RCC or block — through a few points along its back. When it is removed, what is left is a handful of anchor holes, filled and painted over in an hour. No chasing, no civil work, no false ceiling.

Yes, it moves with you. Our own team dismantles it, transports it and re-installs it in the new home; the mechanism is re-tuned to the new wall at the same time.

Yes, with one hand. The gas struts carry the weight of the frame and mattress; you provide the direction, not the force. Opening takes about eight seconds, closing about the same, and the struts damp the last few inches so it settles rather than drops.

We set the strut force to your mattress at installation, and show you the motion during handover so the first time you do it is with us in the room.

A Dwalsbed starts at ₹70,000 for a vertical bed in a standard laminate, and goes up to about ₹2,70,000 for a full wall unit with wardrobes, lofts and a sofa. A wall bed with a sofa starts at ₹1,25,000. Size, finish and how much of the wall you want built are what move the number.

We do not quote before someone has measured your wall. The measurement is free, the quotation is fixed for the configuration on it, and the 3D studio on this page will give you a live estimate you can send us on WhatsApp.

Each Dwalsbed is made to your measurements in our own factory in Pune, not pulled from stock, so there is a production window between confirmation and delivery. The exact lead time depends on the finish and how many units are in production; we tell you the date at quotation and confirm it when the 50% advance is received.

Installation itself takes our team one working day for a bed or a bed-and-sofa unit; a full wall unit takes longer, and we tell you how long at quotation. You can use the room the evening the installation finishes.

Every Dwalsbed carries a written 5-year warranty on the structure and the lifting mechanism.

It covers the carcass and welded frame against failure in normal domestic use, and the gas-spring pistons and lifting hardware. It does not cover cosmetic wear on laminate and edge-banding, or the mattress, which carries its own manufacturer’s terms. Service calls anywhere in Mumbai & MMR are by our own technicians.

Yes. Because the unit fixes to the wall with anchors rather than any civil work, landlords generally treat it the way they treat a wall-mounted wardrobe or TV unit. If your landlord or society wants it in writing, we describe the fixing method for you.

When you move, we remove it and fill the anchor holes; the wall is painted over and the flat is handed back as it was.

You call us, and our own technician comes — not a vendor, not a franchisee. Because we manufacture the units, every part is in our own stores, and a gas strut is a bolt-on component that swaps in minutes. If the failure is covered by the warranty, the part and the visit are on us; if it is outside the warranty, we quote the part before we come.

In practice, a strut rated to 40,000 cycles has used about three per cent of its rated life by year three. The more common call is a re-tune after a mattress change, which is the same visit.
